Sustainability

T2 Events recognises the event industry has a huge role to play in the active protection and preservation of the landscapes we use and love.

What we do now

There are no paper instructions / registrations, everything is online and accessible pre event.

Event results aren’t on print outs, at point of registration we take the competitors mobile number and they receive a text once they cross the finish line. Live finish times are available though an emailed link.

We use timing chips and marker pens for numbering on our mid week triathlons as apposed to bib paper numbers.

Our bike racking has permanent numbers so we don’t print out sticker numbers for each event.

We encourage the use of water bottles and recyclable cups at events and use compostable cups / plates when we need to.

We buy food locally from local suppliers.

Sometimes we do over buy especially for our Windermere One Way feed station, surplus food is taken to a local charity food bank. @morecambe_bay_foodbank

We use recyclable barrier tape / bunting at our events, it also adds to the celebration atmosphere!

We use marshal bibs that are washable no plastic bibs! Our #WOW paddler numbered bibs get used year after year.

The course sweeper ensures no litter is left behind, we will even do a litter pick whilst setting out the course if needed.

We ensure that event mementoes and awards are sourced locally and are useful to the competitor with minimum packaging.

T-shirts and hoodie orders are taken at point of registration so minimum waste is left.

When clothing is left over we donate to the Fire Fighters Charity Find your nearest recycling bank HERE

We can still do more, our pledge….

Reduce printing material making registration sign on easier with the use of the lap top, sharing screen.

Reduce the amount of swim caps used by following one colour per event for the season.

Use reusable bib numbers for Kendal Triathlons.

We can work harder to source quality wooden medals from sustainable sources for all events including looking at the ribbon choice.

Provide recycling bins at our events.

Encourage and actively promote car shares, also looking at local transport links.

Organise litter picks pre and post event, local to the area of the event.

Use solar panels to recharge timing equipment and power laptops during the events.

Commit to a tree planting scheme through the National Trust. This year for #WOW 2022 we pledge to plant a tree for each competitor / paddler.

If you can think of anything we are missing do contact us and together we can all make a difference.
